FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY / UNDERWATER ROBOTICS

FAU OURI research grant.

Developing an underwater ROV with camera hardware and an AI coral-classification system.

01 / THE RESEARCH PROJECT

An ROV for coral-classification research.

Through Florida Atlantic University’s Office of Undergraduate Research & Inquiry, I received a $1,200 research grant for an underwater robotics project.

From September 2022 to March 2023, I worked on an ROV with camera hardware and an AI coral-classification system. I presented the project at FAU’s 13th Undergraduate Research Symposium.

02 / INTEGRATING THE PLATFORM

Bringing the systems together.

The project connected an underwater vehicle, camera hardware, and a coral-classification application. My broader work on this ROV included mechanical and electrical integration, assembly, wiring, and testing.

The platform also supported my MATE ROV team’s work. This page focuses on the FAU OURI research project and its grant-funded application.
